Her Place (violin)

This piece for solo violin is a transposed verion of the original, written for solo viola. It is a rhythmic, synocpated piece which also contains lush melodies capturing the timbre of the instrument. The composer drew influence from 20th century classical composers, Shetland fiddle music and jazz rhythms.

Dedication note: The work is dedicated to the composer's mother Verona Burgess, who spent a number of her formative years living in Shetland where she played and taught Shetland fiddle music.
