With this piece I wanted to create a contemporary-sounding tune based on an interesting rhythmic groove. The piece is based on a cycled groove in 7/4, which then changes to 6/4 to create interest.

The slightly uneasy feeling this piece creates was a reflection of what was going on in my life when I wrote the tune- the unsure and uncertain feeling when you come out of a long relationship.

Commissioned by the 2010 Melbourne Women's International Jazz Festival.

Instrumentation
soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, trombone, drums, bass, piano
